RJA#9b Arguement
Research Question: How can the use of street drugs lead to addiction in teens?

Thesis/Claim: The use of drugs in teens have serious side effects that should be taken more serious which can lead to addiction by changes in the brain involuntary leading to uncontrollable drug use and dependance due to the physiology of the drug. This happens through social and development factors as well as the personality. These all influence the likely-hood of one becoming addicted.
Reasons:
•Personality- risky behavior, depression…etc.
•The physiology of drugs- changes to the brain involuntary leading to uncontrollable drug use and dependence
•Developmental factors- genetics/inherited•Peer pressure/Social factors
Counterarguements:
1. Nicotine rates for addiction are higher
2. Environment factors such as a good way of life can prevent risky experiementating behavior.
3. Addiction in only a matter of will power and people can stop using if they really set their mind to it.
4. Limiting the access that teens have to drugs decrease addiction
